Registration
American Kennel Club (AKC) is recognized as the most prominent. In 1884 members of The Westminster Kennel Club and the Kennel Club of Philadelphia establish a national governing body for dog registrations and dog shows, the American Kennel Club. Their headquarters is on Park Avenue in New York. www.akc.org.
Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) is the largest single breed dog registry in North America registering and promoting only the breed of Australian Shepherds since 1957. They are located in Bryan, Texas. www.asca.org.
Untied Kennel Club (UKC) was established in 1898 and is the largest all breed performance dog registry in the world. The programs at UKC include Obedience, Rally Obedience, Agility, Trials, Weight Pull Events, Terrier Races, Dock Jumping Events, Lure Coursing, Total Junior Program Coonhound Field Trails, Water Races, Night Hunts and Bench Shows, Hunt Tests for retrieving breeds, Pointing Dog Events, Beagle Events including Hunts and Bench Shows, and Coon Events and Bench Shows. Rounding out the 'Total Dog' package, UKC Conformation Events are among the largest growing events. UKC dog shows are family events designed by and for the breeder-owner-handler. Professional Handlers are not eligible to exhibit dogs for others at UKC Conformation Events. At UKC dog shows, the emphasis is on the DOG, not the SHOW. UKC is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. www.ukcdogs.com
There are several sub-standard registries. They include ACA (American Canine Association), CKC (Continental Kennel Club), NSDR (National Stockdog Registry), and APRI (American Pet Registry Inc.) and a few others. Please beware of any dog associated with these registries as many times not purebred.
Price for Breeding Rights
For Breeding/Show is $3000 for any color coat. We do not guarantee performance for the Breeding or Showing of your dog. At a minimum, qualified breeders will be required to conduct Genetic Health Testing of all their sires and dams and only breed Australian Shepherds, exclusively. We do not stud out our males.
Guarantee
Our puppy "health guarantee" is available for 12 months from the time the puppy leaves our farm and is in your care. Only genetic disease will be considered as a defect, and each case will be dealt with on an individual basis. However, this does not include abnormalities caused by injury, neglect, contracted disease, nutritional deficiencies, or other environmental conditions. Our health guarantee does not cover any internal or external parasite or protozoa, as these are wholly considered to be common treatable conditions.
All puppies are checked by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Puppies are on a deworming schedule prior to going to their new homes. Tails are docked when needed, per the AKC and ASCA standards. Dewclaws are removed. Puppies will receive their first vaccinations at eight weeks. Puppies are ready for their new home shortly after the vet visit at eight weeks. Puppies go to the new home with AKC and/or ASCA and/or UKC registration applications, pedigree of parents.
Shipping Transportation
Flying Due to Covid
Until otherwise advised, we are limited to flying puppies on American Airlines only. And, unfortunately, rates have nearly doubled since pre-Covid. We cannot guarantee shipping at $600 per our normal Shipping Transportation guidelines. Note: Delta Airlines and United Airlines are not flying live animals until further notice. An alternative is for you to fly to an airport near us - Tallahassee International and Tampa International being the closest - and we would be happy to meet you at the airport with your new puppy. In this scenario, you would be able to take your puppy home with you on your return flight as a permitted carry-on. Our rate to do this is $250.
Our Pre-Covid Guidelines
We can ship via American Airlines and Delta Airlines from Tallahassee International Airport. We can ship via American, Delta or United Airlines from Tampa International Airport. These two airports are the closest to us. The cost of cargo shipping is $600. Puppy sizes needs to be 8 - 12 weeks of age. Puppies must be 8 weeks old to ship per airline regulations, and outside air temperatures of more than 45 degrees Fahrenheit, or less than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Summer temperatures in Florida can reach their highs quickly, so ground shipping may be a better option. A licensed Veterinarian must issue a "Health Certificate," and this health certificate can be no more than 10 days old. I do require full payment at six (6) weeks of age if shipping a puppy through an airline. All paperwork will be attached to the crate. Your paperwork includes a copy of the Health Guarantee, application for registration with AKC and/or ASCA, microchipped enrollment form, health records, pedigrees, and lab report of the parents.
What is included in the cost for shipping:
1) Airline approved crate
2) Accurate required labeling
3) Food/collar/leash
4) Travel to the airport (2 1/2 hours)
5) Veterinary visit and Health Certification
6) Airfare
Airlines are well-equipped to transport live animals. Puppies receive premium care, including normal air pressure as passengers, ample hydration, and plenty of food to eat. Sedatives are never used, ensuring your puppy arrives eagerly and safely for their new home.
